From the dashboard, click the Settings tab at the top of the dashboard. From here you will see the general settings along with other links to different subject of settings.On the left side of the dashboard, click the Categories link. This interface will then display currently made categories along with their names and settings. You can then delete and edit the list of categories by selecting the pencil icon to edit and clicking the X icon to delete.You can then create a category by clicking the green + Add New Category button in the top right of this interface. A popup shall appear called Add Category, which then displays numerous settings for you to input for the new category.The field called Category type has a few options: Private (only visible to user) this means that the category will only be visible to the person who made this category, Public (read only by users) this means that the other users connected to the Maglr account will only be able to read the publications inside this category they will not be able to edit them, Public (see for all users and edit) this means all users connected to the account can see and edit the publications inside this category.
The field called Module has a few options: Magazine which means the category will only show for publications tab with publications inside, and interactive which means it will only show in the Prints tab with prints inside.
Position field means the ordering of the categories in the list. The higher the number the further down the category will appear, the lower the number the earlier it will show.
Active field makes the category go Active, similar to making a publication go active, so if you want to give the category a domain, all publications in the category would be visible to users viewing from the domain.In this popup will want to fill the fields with the Name, type, module, position, and active. Once you have filled these fields the best you can, you will then want to click the green Save Settings button in the bottom left of this popup.
Once you have created the category, the list of categories will update and you will see the new category added to the list. From here you can return to the editing of the category by clicking the pencil icon, you can delete it by clicking the X icon.
Each category created will be given a unique ID, so if you have two categories of the same name, you can differentiate them from the ID given.
From here you can add publications to the different categories by going to the publication you want to categorize, go to publication settings, then from the Basic Information tab, on the right side you will see Categories field, listing the categories available. Simply click to highlight, or hold ctrl or command and select multiple categories you want the publication to appear in. You can also click the top category, then holding Shift, click the bottom category to highlight all categories.
Then when you go to publications, on the left side you will see the list of categories, clicking a category will list all publications that are listed under this category.
