A third option is not to partially release the publication, but to shield it completely with a separate landing page. After completing the form on this landing page, the visitor will be redirected to the intended publication. This can be a redirect to a secure link or a publication with a secret URL.
Depending on the form used (Maglr form or integrated form with Hubspot, Pardot, Mailchimp or Marketo) you can also send the link to the underlying publication through their automation e-mails.
Why a landing page
A landing page can be a good choice if you are looking for extra campaign-based information before forwarding your viewers to the publication (whitepaper for example). You don't reveal anything about the publication itself, but show the visitor what to expect.
Securing the gated publication
Assuming that the final publication may not appear publicly on the internet, we will place a security on it. This can be done in two ways:
- Choose a secure link via the project settings. The project is now only available through this original login link. If a viewer would copy the link from the address bar and shares the link with someone else, a security notification will appear.
- Edit the URL via the project settings and create a complicated url like / Hd89837. The publication is still public, but the link cannot be easily guessed. Also make sure that you disable search engine indexing via the navigation environment.
After this step, the project will have a secure URL or a URL that is difficult to guess.
Create a campaign page
The page for this landing page can be created as a new project with the micro content publication type in Maglr. This type has no navigation environment and you can share it on a separate URL. This can be useful for a social media post or advertising campaign, for example.
You can create a micro content page based on the Pro editor or Block editor. In both variants it is possible to add a form with the redirect action. In this explanation we will continue with a Pro page.
Create a form
Within the Pro editor you are now able to create your own design for the landing page. Add the content along with the form. You drag this form from the side menu on the canvas, after which you can choose an existing form from the library or create an entirely new form.
Configure the redirect action
When creating the form, you can choose an action. If you use a form as a separate contact moment in a page, we will show the 'thank you notice'. If you use the gated form on top of a publication, we will close this form immediately so that you can continue reading.
After successfully completing the form, we want to forward the user to the actual publication. To do this, choose the redirect option in the last step of the form module as an action. Enter a full URL (https) that will redirect the visitor to the publication. In this case, this is the secret or secure link to the publication that we publicly protect.
Use on a separate URL or embed within your website
Now that the landing page is ready, you can use the page in several ways. You can easily share the link of the landing page via social (do not forget to fill in the SEO settings of the project) or as a link behind an e-mail campaign.
An extra option is to embed the landing page within your own corporate website. Depending on the format, this can be done as a fullscreen page embed or fixed format.
