Content personalisation
Content personalisation replaces text or images in a project with values for each reader, such as their first name or company name. Use it to address a recipient by name, or to show a company-specific title or image.
Personalisation works in two steps. First, you mark elements as personalisable in the editor. Then you deliver the values for each reader, either by sending the project from the dashboard or by adding URL parameters to the project's link.
Marking content as personalisable
Before you can personalise a project, mark the elements whose content should change per reader. Without this step, the dashboard shows "There are no pages that can be personalized" at the Personalize pages step when you send the project.
- Open the project in the editor.
- Right-click a heading, text or image element and choose
Personalise element. - Give the field a name and choose what to show when no value is given.
To review or change the elements already personalised on the current page, open the options menu in the top-left corner marked by an M and choose Personalise elements.
For all options, see Make texts and images replaceable.
Sending a personalised project from the dashboard
The dashboard can send a project to recipients with personalised values filled in. Each recipient gets their own personalised link.
- In the dashboard, open
Sendand choosePersonalized email. - Click
Share project. - Follow the steps to choose a sending method, a project, the pages and the recipients, and fill in the personalised fields.
- On the last step,
Check & send, review the details and send.
You can deliver the personalised link in three ways:
- Send the publication via email: Maglr sends the email with the link.
- Send publication via my mail client: the email opens in your own mail client.
- Use a link that I can copy and share: you copy the link and share it yourself. Maglr sends no email to the recipient.
Personalized email in the Send menu is available when your account includes the personalisation module. Contact Maglr if you don't see it.
For every step in detail, see Send a personalised publication in 7 steps.
Personalising through URL parameters
You can also personalise a project by adding parameters to its link, without sending it from the dashboard. Each URL parameter matches a personalisable field by its name, and the page replaces that field's content with the parameter's value.
Because the values travel in the link, any tool that builds links can supply them, for example the merge fields of an email platform.
For the exact syntax, see Personalise through URL parameters.
Frequently asked questions
Which elements can I personalise?
You can personalise heading, text and image elements. In the editor, right-click one of these elements and choose Personalise element.
Why don't I see Personalized email in the dashboard?
Personalized email in the Send menu is available only when your account includes the personalisation module. Without it, the Send menu doesn't show Personalized email, or doesn't appear at all. Contact Maglr if you don't see it. You can still personalise a project through URL parameters without this module.
Can I personalise a project without sending an email?
Yes. In the dashboard's Personalized email flow, choose Use a link that I can copy and share to get a personalised link that you share yourself. You can also add URL parameters to the project's link, which replace the content of each personalisable field with the value you give it.
