Where is my data stored?

Hosting

The Maglr platform is hosted at Amazon Web Services, location Frankfurt (EU). Since december 2020 we moved to AWS because more and more customers outside the EU are joining the Maglr platform. AWS offers better ways to scale your platform globally. Making it more reliable, redundant and fast for multiple regions around the world.

Some basic info about the hosting set-up:

The editing and viewing environment in Maglr are both separated deliberately. Because in case of problems with one of the environment, the other one stays online;
All uploaded data is stored at a secure (non-public) storage, split per user/client;
The amount of data and data traffic depends on your Maglr license;
Data from AWS Frankfurt is spread through a worldwide CDN network (cloudflare). Your publication is pushed through multiple servers across the world. For example; when a client from Australia visits a publication, it will be served from a fast local server. The data on this specific server is temporarily cached.
AWS guarantees a high availability uptime of 99.9%

Back-ups

On a daily basis, a back-up of the user content is created. If needed, these back-ups can be restored within 7 days. (We calculate additional costs to retrieve a specific back-up, the amount depends on the complexity and time we need to invest in retrieving the data).

The last 15 changes made in the editor will be saved in the application itself. A user is able to restore a back up of their changes by itself. This can be done in the page editor.

Sensitive data

Content duplicates in a cached state to CDN servers around the world. This is done to get the best possible speed to the end-user. In case when a publication contains sensitive data, this option can be disabled.

All data will be served from the main AWS storage in Frankfurt. We can add an extra layer of authentication on top of this environment where each file (even images) are validated through an authentication layer. Read more about our Enterprise security solutions.
