Embedding a Maglr project
You can embed a complete Maglr project or a single page on another website by pasting an embed code from the project's Embed code tab into your website. A complete project is embedded with all its pages and, by default, a navigation so visitors can move between pages. A single page is embedded without navigation, so it fits into the layout of your web page.
Opening the embed settings
To create an embed code for a project:
- On the Projects overview, open the menu of the project you want to embed.
- Click
Share. - Click the
Embed codetab. - Under "Choose a page or project", select
The complete project with all pagesorOne specific page from this project. - If you chose a single page, select the page from the dropdown.
- Under "Choose an embed type", select the embed type you want. The embed types are described in the sections below.
- If the tab shows a
Generate embed codebutton instead of the optional settings and the code, clickGenerate embed code. The button means no embed code exists yet for your choice. - Adjust the optional settings if needed.
- Under "Copy the code", click
Copy. - Paste the code into the HTML of your website.
Inside a project, you can also open the Share panel with Share project, then continue from step 3.
Requirements for embedding
You can only embed a Maglr project when these conditions are met:
- The project is active. If it is not, the
Embed codetab shows the message "Activate this project" and the embed settings can't be used. ClickOpen project settingsin the message to activate the project. - The project has no active security, such as a password. If it has, the tab shows the message "Active security" and the embed settings can't be used until the security is turned off. Click
Open project settingsin the message to change the security. - The project is not a Print publication. Print publications have no
Embed codetab. - For a Micro content project, you can embed a single page only. The option to embed the complete project is not available.
On your website, these conditions apply:
- Your website or CMS must let you add custom HTML that includes a
<script>tag. Every embed type exceptFixed format (manual)for a complete project uses a script. The script runs in the visitor's browser, not on your web server. - The embedded project and page must stay active. An embed of an inactive project or an inactive page doesn't load.
Embed types at a glance
Embed type | What you embed | What visitors see |
|---|---|---|
| Complete project or single page | The project or page in a frame with a fixed width and height, which you change in the embed code |
| Complete project | A banner that opens the project fullscreen on top of your web page |
| Single page | The page placed directly into your web page, without a frame |
| Single page | The page in a frame that adjusts to your web page |
| Single page | A banner that opens the page fullscreen on top of your web page |
Embedding a complete project
When you select The complete project with all pages in the Embed code tab, the embed includes all pages of the project. By default it also includes a navigation that lets visitors move between pages. You can choose between two embed types:
Fixed format (manual): the project is shown in a frame with a fixed width and height. The code uses 800 × 500 pixels; change the width and height in the embed code to resize it.Preview with fullscreen layover: a banner on your web page opens the project fullscreen on top of the page. See Embedding with a fullscreen layover.
Under Change navigation type, you can choose Default navigation, Minimal navigation, Carousel navigation or No navigation. You can also turn on Autoplay pages (5 sec default).
For settings and examples, see Embedding a multi-page publication.
Embedding a single page with automatic format (inject)
Automatic format (inject) places a single page directly into your web page, without an iframe. It is the default and recommended embed type for a single page.
Because the page becomes part of your web page:
- Scroll animations perform better than in an iframe.
- Search engines that render JavaScript, such as Google, can index the page content as part of your website.
For settings and examples, see Automatic inject with webcomponents.
Embedding a single page with automatic format (iframe)
Automatic format (iframe) embeds a single page in an iframe that adjusts to your web page. To show this option, click Show legacy embed options under "Choose an embed type". Use Automatic format (inject) instead, unless you need an iframe.
For settings and examples, see Embedding a single page.
Embedding with a fixed format (manual)
Fixed format (manual) embeds a complete project or a single page in an iframe with a fixed width and height. The embed code uses 800 × 500 pixels by default; change these values in the code to resize the embed. It is available for both choices under "Choose a page or project". For a complete project, the embed code is a plain iframe without a script.
For embedding a complete project with a fixed format, see Embedding a multi-page publication.
Embedding with a fullscreen layover
A fullscreen layover embed places a banner on your web page. When a visitor clicks the banner, the project or page opens fullscreen on top of your web page. When the visitor closes it, they return to the same place on your web page.
The embed type is called Preview with fullscreen layover for a complete project and Open in fullscreen layover for a single page. You design the banner in the Embed code tab under "Banner preview", where you set the layout, title, title color, subtitle, background color, button and button color.
For settings and examples, see Overlay embed.
Restricting an embed to specific domains
Only activate this embed on specific domain(s) limits where an embed works. This option is available for every embed type in the Embed code tab. When you add one or more domains, the embed only loads on websites on those domains and their subdomains. On any other website, the embed doesn't load.

Frequently asked questions
Why can't I use the Embed code tab?
The Embed code tab in a project's Share panel can't be used when the project is inactive or has active security, such as a password. The tab shows a message with an Open project settings link; activate the project or turn off its security there to use the tab. Print publications have no Embed code tab at all.
Which embed type is best for SEO?
For a single page, Automatic format (inject) is best for SEO. It places the page content directly into your web page instead of an iframe, so search engines that render JavaScript, such as Google, can index it as part of your website.
Why does my Maglr embed not show on my website?
A Maglr embed doesn't show on a website when one of these applies:
- The embedded project or page is inactive.
- The embed is restricted with
Only activate this embed on specific domain(s), and your website's domain is not on the list. - Your website or CMS removes or blocks the
