Setting up a domain
A domain name is the web address where your published projects appear online. You manage your domain names in the dashboard under Settings → Domain names, and you need the Admin role to see that page. An account can have several domain names, and each one shows the projects you choose for it.
Here is an example of a web address on a default Maglr domain name:
https://publications.maglr.com/projectname/pagename
In this example, publications is the subdomain and maglr.com is the domain. The part after the domain points to a specific project and page; the exact path depends on the project.
Domain types
When you add a domain name in Maglr, you choose one of two domain types:
- A default Maglr domain name: a subdomain of Maglr, such as
yourname.maglr.com. An SSL certificate is turned on automatically. - Connect your own domain name: a domain name you have registered yourself, such as
magazine.example.com. You forward it to the Maglr servers with a DNS record, and Maglr activates an SSL certificate for it. The DNS settings are explained in Connecting your own domain to Maglr.

Domain name limit
The number of domain names you can add depends on your subscription. By default, you can add 5 domain names for each navigation environment in your subscription. For example, a subscription with two navigation environments allows 10 domain names in total.
The Domain names page shows how many domain names you have left, for example "3 available domains left (2/5)". When you reach the limit, the Add domain name button is disabled.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I see Domain names in Settings?
The Domain names page under Settings is only visible to users with the Admin role. If you don't see it, ask an Admin on your Maglr account to add or change the domain name for you, or to give you the Admin role.
Why is the Add domain name button disabled?
The Add domain name button is disabled when your account has reached its domain name limit. By default, the limit is 5 domain names for each navigation environment in your subscription. The Domain names page shows how many domain names you have left. To add more, contact us.
Why doesn't my own domain name show my projects yet?
A domain name you registered yourself shows your published projects only after its DNS record points to the Maglr servers. When you add the domain name, Maglr shows the DNS record you need. Set that record at your domain provider. The DNS settings are explained in Connecting your own domain to Maglr.
