Share publication by email

You can send a link to your publication in a formatted email to one recipient, from the Send email tab in the dashboard's Share project panel. This is not a newsletter tool: each email goes to a single email address.

Requirements for sending a publication by email

  • Active project: the project must be activated and published. If it isn't, the Send email tab is greyed out; when you open it, it shows "Activate this project" with an Open project settings link, and the form can't be used.
  • Not a Micro content project: the Send email tab isn't shown for Micro content (single-page) projects.

Opening the email form

To open the email form for a publication:

  1. Go to Projects in the dashboard.
  2. Hover over the project's tile, then hover over the ... button that appears on it, and click Share in the menu. Alternatively, click the project's tile to open it, and click Share project in the sidebar on the left.
  3. In the Share project panel, select the Send email tab.

Sending a publication by email

To send a publication to a recipient from the Send email tab:

  1. Fill in the recipient's Name and Email.
  2. Check Sender name and Email sender, and change them if needed.
  3. Fill in the Email subject.
  4. Optionally, write a Personal message.
  5. Optionally, tick Send a copy to myself.
  6. Click Preview email to see the email as the recipient will see it.
  7. Click Send.

After sending, the panel shows "Email successfully sent. The email is on its way to the recipient." To send the publication to another person, click Click here to send another email., then replace the recipient's Name and Email: the form still shows the previous recipient.

Email form fields

The Send email tab has these fields. Name, Email, Sender name, Email sender and Email subject are required; Personal message is optional.

  • Name: the recipient's name.
  • Email: the recipient's email address.
  • Sender name: the name shown as the sender of the email. It defaults to the first and last name on your Maglr user account.
  • Email sender: the address replies go to. It defaults to the email address of your Maglr user account. The email itself is sent from noreply@maglr.com, with your Sender name as the display name.
  • Email subject: the subject line of the email. It's also shown as the heading inside the email.
  • Personal message: optional text shown in the email below the button that opens the publication.
  • Send a copy to myself: when ticked, a copy of the email is also sent to the address in Email sender. If you change Email sender, the copy goes to the changed address.

Send doesn't send the email until every required field is filled in and both email addresses are valid. An invalid address shows "Please enter a valid email address".

Maglr remembers the Email subject and Personal message in your browser after you send an email, and fills them in the next time you open the form.

Previewing the email

To check the email before you send it, click Preview email in the Send email tab. A pop-up titled "Preview email" shows the email as the recipient will see it. You don't need to fill in the required fields to preview.

What the recipient receives

The recipient gets one formatted email that contains:

  • your logo and interface colors
  • the project's cover image, which links to the publication
  • the Email subject as a heading
  • an "open link" button that opens the publication
  • your Personal message, if you wrote one

The link in the email is the publication's regular link, the same link anyone else would open. It is not a personal or tracked link for that recipient.
