Configuring app categories & access rights

When you open the Presenter App an overview of active presentations will be shown. These projects are divided into multiple categories and are directed from the Maglr dashboard. These projects are created by one or multiple users. When logging into one of our apps, a connection is made to the platform requesting all available categories and projects for that specific user. The category/project structure inside the dashboard is the same as the one in the apps when logging in with the same user.

Note: a published project/presentation needs to be added to a category before it's visible in both of the apps. An app needs at least one category to function.

Create a category

Admin needs to create a category structure depending on how the app is going to be used. For each category, multiple types of access rights can be chosen. Click here to read more about categories.

Choose the right structure

By default the rights structure in Maglr is activated, meaning that users can only see the content they have created. Maglr Support is able to de-activate this option. This way, everyone can see and edit each other's projects. Contact support@maglr.com for more information.

Example

Below is an example of a setup with an account where Marketing would like to share some default presentations with the organisation:

Category 1 - Closed: only admin can see the contents
Category 2 - Read-only: users can only read the content or re-use these closed pages in their personal presentations. The content of a project cannot be edited.
Category 3 - User shared: by default this category is hidden for all users. The category can be activated via a user's settings.
Category 4 - Public: where personal pages can be added to a project.

Note: the 'User Shared' option is not available by default. Contact support@maglr.com to activate this option.

What is a regular user able to see?

When the above scenario is set by an admin and a user would log into the app or dashboard, the following overview with categories and projects will be visible:

Category 2 - Projects that cannot be opened or edited
Category 4 - Option to add a presentation

Category 2 can be used by Marketing, providing multiple standard presentations for the whole organisation. Users are not able to edit the projects in this category but in case of changes, the content is always up-to-date. Users are able to add locked pages in their personal projects. Click here for more info.

Category 4 is an open category (read & write) where only projects from the user himself are available (unless another colleague shares a project with him on a personal level. Read more about sharing a personal project.

Category 3 including the underlaying project are only visible when this category is checked in this user's profile by the admin.

How to continue?

It's important to understand the differences between the available categories, what to share by default and what not. If this is clear you can set up a structure available through all presentation variations. Need more help? Contact us via support@maglr.com.
