Offline video in App

What works offline in the Maglr Presenter apps

The Maglr Presenter apps download the projects you publish to the app onto the device, so you can show them without an internet connection. This applies to both the Maglr desktop app (Windows and macOS) and the Tablet & mobile app (iOS and Android). Images, downloadable files and video files you upload to Maglr are included in the download and work offline without any extra steps.

Some content is loaded from the internet, so it only works when the device is online:

  • YouTube and Vimeo videos.
  • Videos linked from an external URL instead of uploaded to Maglr.
  • Embeds that load a web page. Without a connection, they show the message "Offline: This content can only be displayed when online."
  • Links to external websites.
  • Submitting forms.

To set up the apps, see Getting started with the Maglr Presenter.

Downloading YouTube and Vimeo videos for offline use

Maglr Support can switch on a feature for your account that downloads YouTube and Vimeo videos into the Maglr Presenter app when you publish a project to the app. The videos then play offline in the app's own video player instead of the YouTube or Vimeo player.

This feature is off by default, because YouTube and Vimeo videos can be large, which makes the app download much larger and slower.

To switch it on for your account, contact Maglr Support at support@maglr.com.
