Set the environment colours

You change the colours and fonts of a navigation environment on its Colors & fonts tab. A navigation environment is the interface around your published projects, such as the navigation menu, the side menu and the overview page. The colours and fonts you set apply to every project published on a domain that uses this navigation environment.

Changing the colours and fonts of a navigation environment

To change the colours and fonts of a navigation environment:

  1. Open the Settings menu and choose Navigation environment.
  2. On the row of the environment you want to change, click Edit settings (the pencil icon).

Colour and font groups on the Colors & fonts tab

The Colors & fonts tab of a navigation environment splits its settings into groups, one for each part of the interface:

  • Overview basic style: the background, title, main text, icon and button colours of the overview page. These colours are also used in the mail banner and in emails sent from the dashboard.
  • Section projects: the background, title and link colours of the frame on the overview page where the published projects are shown.
  • Navigation menu: the background, icon text and icon background colours of the navigation menu in a slide publication.
  • Extra navigation arrows: the background and icon colours of the extra navigation buttons on a slide publication.
  • Stack navigation menu: the icon and background colours of the menu button and the close button shown over a stack publication.
  • Side menu: the background, title, text, link and button colours of the side menu that slides over the navigation.
  • Progress indicator: the background colour of the progress indicator, the bar that shows visitors their progress through a publication when it is turned on.
  • Fonts: the fonts for titles, general text and buttons in the navigation environment.

Previewing and fine-tuning environment colours

The Colors & fonts tab of a navigation environment helps you check your choices before you save them:

  • Preview: a preview next to the settings shows the result. Switch it between Overview page, Detail page and Side menu to see each part of the interface.
  • Hover colours: many items have a second colour picker for the colour shown when a visitor hovers over the item.
  • Font lists: the font menus offer three lists: "Custom client fonts", "Selected Google fonts" and "Default Maglr fonts".

Frequently asked questions

Can I give one project different navigation colours?

Not per project. A project uses the navigation environment of the domain it is published on, so all projects published on that domain share the same colours and fonts. To give a project different colours, it has to be published on a domain that uses a different navigation environment. A project gets its domain through its category, which you link to a domain under Settings > Categories. A project that isn't published on a domain doesn't use a navigation environment. The number of navigation environments you can have depends on your subscription.

Where do I change the colours of the side menu?

Go to Settings > Navigation environment, click Edit settings (the pencil icon) on the environment, and open the Colors & fonts tab. The Side menu group holds the background, title, text, link and button colours of the side menu. Click Save navigation to store your changes.

Where do the fonts in the navigation environment font list come from?

The font menus on the Colors & fonts tab of a navigation environment show three lists: "Custom client fonts" (the fonts you uploaded to your account), "Selected Google fonts" (the Google fonts you added to your account) and "Default Maglr fonts". To make another font available in these menus, add it under Settings > Fonts first.
