Setup the correct metadata
Creating the right metadata for your publications will help tell your users what your publication is about. The title tag and meta description are HTML attributes that provide a short preview of a Maglr project and its pages. The page titles and descriptions will appear in the search query when a published project is shown or when it is shared as a separate link on social media. The content of this preview is normally automatically filled based on the content of a page. But you have the ability to overwrite this data separately in the Settings.
This is possible at three different levels:
A project comes standard with a navigation environment. Via the settings of the navigation, you can enter the name of the environment together with the standard Meta title and Meta description.
For a single project, it is possible to adjust the single meta title and meta description within the Projects settings of the Project Page Overview.
If you want to share a single page, then it is possible to adjust the title and description separately via the Page Settings. You can also upload a separate image that is displayed as an alternative to the standard screenshot.
When displaying the metadata, the platform first checks whether the page has entered data from step 3. If not, the system falls back to the settings of step 2 and otherwise back to step 1. If nothing is entered at all, the first text is extracted from a page to automatically fill in the metadata.
By default, the image shown when sharing to social media will be automatically taken from the page you want to share. This thumbnail can be set per page in its page settings. You can reach these settings by clicking the wrench icon when hovering over the page. You can then set the Page thumbnail to whichever image you like, which will then be used when sharing to social media.
Suppose a page is in Google or Facebook and has an incorrect title or description. It is then possible to adjust this via the dashboard. This adjustment is implemented directly within Maglr but it can take a while (mostly a few days to a couple of weeks) within search engines until these differences are changed.
It is also possible for Facebook and Twitter to update the link separately. View this page for more info. In the case of LinkedIn, it can take up to 48 hours but it is not possible to remotely update the link.
