Share a project with link

You can share a published project with a direct link, or with a clickable visual link banner for email. Both options are on the Link to project tab of the share panel in the dashboard.

To copy a direct link to a project or one of its pages:

  1. In the dashboard, click the project to open it.
  2. In the sidebar below the project thumbnail, click Share project. The share panel opens on the Link to project tab.
  3. Make sure Copy the link to the project or a page is selected.
  4. In the dropdown, choose Link to project to share the whole project, or choose a page under "Specific page" to link straight to that page.
  5. Click Copy, then paste the link into your email or chat program.

In a single-page project, the dropdown only lists the page.

To check where the link goes, click Open. The link opens in a new browser tab. To show a QR code for the link, click the QR code icon in the link field.

You can also open the share panel from the projects overview: hover over the ... button on the project tile and click Share.

A visual link banner is a clickable image of your project, with its title, that you paste into an email message. Clicking the banner opens the project at the first page, or at the page you choose in the dropdown. To copy one:

  1. In the dashboard, open the project and click Share project in the sidebar below the project thumbnail. The share panel opens on the Link to project tab.
  2. Select Paste as visual link banner in your email message. A preview of the banner appears.
  3. To link the banner to a specific page, choose that page under "Specific page" in the dropdown. If you don't choose a page, the banner links to the first page of the project.
  4. Click Copy. Maglr shows "Banner has been copied to your clipboard".
  5. Paste the banner into your email message.

The Link to project tab only gives a working link when the project is published and active:

  • Never published: if the project has never been published, not even as a preview, the tab is greyed out and shows "First publish a preview to use this functionality." Publish the project first.
  • Inactive: if the project is not active, the tab shows "Project inactive, no public link available. Use the temporary preview link." To get a public link, activate the project in its project settings and publish it. To let someone review an inactive project, use a temporary preview link.
  • Secured: if the project is secured, for example with a password or an auto-login link, you can still copy the link. The link field shows a lock icon and a description such as "Project secured with password". People who open the link must get through that security before they see the project.

Frequently asked questions

The direct link is only available when the project is published and active. If the project has never been published, not even as a preview, the Link to project tab in the share panel is greyed out and shows "First publish a preview to use this functionality." If the project is inactive, the tab shows "Project inactive, no public link available. Use the temporary preview link." To get a public link, activate the project in its project settings and publish it. To let someone review the project while it is inactive, share a temporary preview link instead.

Yes. In the share panel, on the Link to project tab, open the dropdown and choose the page under "Specific page", then click Copy. The link opens the project at that page, with the project's navigation around it. To share a page on its own, without the surrounding navigation, see Share a single (extracted) page of your project.

Can I share a project that isn't live yet?

Yes, with a temporary preview link. A temporary preview link gives someone temporary access to an inactive project for review. See Share a temporary preview link.
