Share a temporary preview link
A temporary preview link lets you share an inactive project with other people for review before you publish it live. An inactive project is a project that isn't published live. To get a temporary preview link, you first publish a preview of the project, not a live version. You then find the link in the Share project panel, under Temporary preview link.
Copying the temporary preview link
To copy the temporary preview link of an inactive project:
- Publish a preview of your project. See Preview & test your project for the steps.
- On the project's page, click
Share projectin the left sidebar. - On the
Link to projecttab, go to the section Temporary preview link. - Make sure
Preview linkis selected. - Click

You can also open the Share project panel from the projects overview: open the project's menu and click Share.
Sending the temporary preview link by email
To email the temporary preview link of an inactive project to one recipient, publish a preview of the project first. Then:
- On the project's page, click
Share projectin the left sidebar. - On the
Link to projecttab, under Temporary preview link, selectSend your preview link by email. - Enter the recipient's email address in the Email recipient field. You can send to one address at a time.
- Check the Reply to email field. It is filled in with your own email address, and replies go to this address.
- Replace the text in the message box with your own short message. The box starts with the text "Enter a short comment on e-mail.", and that text is sent if you don't replace it.
- Click
Send.
When the email is sent, you see "Email successfully sent. The email is on its way to the recipient." To email someone else, click "Click here to send another email."
The recipient gets an email with the subject "Preview project - " followed by your project's title. It contains your message and an Open the preview button.
Updating what the preview shows
Changes you make to a project only appear in its temporary preview after you click Update preview in the publish popup. The temporary preview link stays the same when you update the preview, so anyone who already has the link sees the updated version at the same address.
Don't publish the project live to update the preview. Publishing live makes the project available at its live URL to anyone who can reach it, not only to people who have the preview link.

Stopping a temporary preview link
A temporary preview link has no expiry date. It keeps working until you delete the preview:
- On the project's page, click
Publishat the top right to open the publish popup. - In the Temporary preview block, click
delete preview.
The link stops working immediately. If you publish a preview again later, it gets a new link, so you need to share that new link again.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a temporary preview link stay active?
A temporary preview link has no expiry date. It keeps working until you click delete preview in the project's publish popup. After that, the old link stops working, and publishing a new preview creates a new link.
Why don't I see a temporary preview link?
There are two reasons the Share project panel doesn't show a temporary preview link:
- No preview published yet: the
Link to projecttab is greyed out and shows "First publish a preview to use this functionality." Click "Click here to publish preview" to open the publish popup, then publish a preview as described in Preview & test your project. - The project is live with no unpublished changes: the Temporary preview link section shows "Temporary preview only available with an inactive project". A temporary preview link is for projects that aren't published live. If a live project has changes that aren't published live yet, the section shows the temporary preview link.
Do I need to send a new link after I change the project?
No. After you change the project, click Update preview in the publish popup. The temporary preview link stays the same, so people who already have the link see the updated version. You only get a new link if you delete the preview and publish a new one.
