Online presentation environment
Next to the 'Presentations Apps' we also offer an online presentation environment. This is the same overview as presented in the app but available within the browser. Depending on the type of content, this overview can be shared publicly or with a security layer. It's also possible for a user to login with their personal account to view their personal presentations.
By defining a domain name for the 'presentations overview' a security type needs to be configured. This can be done by adding a new domain and create a filter. Read more: Create a domain filter.
Choose your publication type: Interactive publications
Choose your domain. For example presentations.company.com
Choose the categories you would like to share on this domain
Now we need to add the type of security. Here we can choose for:
Auto-login: this generates a secret link to share with multiple clients;
Password: fill in a regular password;
Single Sign-on: corporate authentication option used for Enterprise companies (read more);
Dashboard user login: let the user login with his own credentials, showing his personal projects;
IP check: grant access for specific IP's only.
In case your app contains global presentations, that are created by marketing and are meant to be shared by a broader audience, it's possible to add a simple password on top of your presentations. You could choose a password or auto-login link. The login would be the same for all employees or customers.
You can use this type of security when your content is not top-secret, but you would like to grant only specific people access to this material.
When a user has access to the dashboard and creates personal presentations he would like to use these in his online presentation environment. To authenticate this user, we need to add a different security option called 'Dashboard user login'. When the user visits this configured domain, the dashboard login page will be shown. After these login steps, he will be redirected back to the presentation overview. From here, the user's personal presentations will appear. For this functionality each user needs a separate Maglr user login. Read more about users and rights.
Another scenario would be to access internal presentations. For example when Marketing is creating all sorts of presentations for internal use. Think of onboarding information, for internal use only. It's possible to add one of the two first security options that are mentioned above: adding a password or auto-login.
The downside of this type of security is the fact a password or link can be shared with others, even externally. To solve this problem we have the option to add an IP check on the specific domain. This could be useful but only when an organisation has a static IP. When there's no static IP address or when an organisation is located all over the world, the IP check unfortunately is not an option.
For this problem the SSO integration is the best approach. Larger companies are already using cloud logins like Google or Microsoft to authenticate accounts for all sorts of online applications. Maglr is also able to connect this functionality to our own platform.
When a user visits the online presentation environment, we will first redirect this user to Microsoft (or other applications) to log in. When logged in, the user is sent back to the presentation environment. Our platform checks if the user does work for the specific organisation and shows him the overview. Each login is personal, when a user would leave the company his login is automatically disabled. That would mean that the user's access to the presentation environment is also disabled (click here for more info).
Note: the security type 'Dashboard user login' is not default available. Contact support to activate this functionality.
Below is an example when a user is directly logging into the dashboard, instead of the Presenter Apps. Because the user doesn't have any editing rights, he can only see the page below where he is able to download the Apps or go directly to the online presentation environment. In this example, a URL is not yet set.
