Embed a Pardot form

You can show a form you built in Pardot (Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement) on a page of your Maglr publication. You copy the form's URL from Pardot, add a Form element to the page, and paste the URL into the Form editor. To build a form in Maglr itself instead, see Add a form to your project.


Copying the form URL from Pardot


To embed a Pardot form in Maglr, you need the form's URL (link) from Pardot:


  1. In Pardot, create and design your form.
  2. Open the form and copy its link (URL).

Copy only the form's URL, which starts with https://. Don't copy Pardot's iframe embed code: Maglr loads the value you paste as a URL, so HTML code won't show a form.


Adding the Pardot form to a page


To add a Pardot form to a page in Maglr, place a Form element on the page and embed the form's URL in the Form editor:


  1. Open the page in the editor. Make sure you are in desktop view: in mobile view, the form can't be selected or edited.
  2. Click Add in the left toolbar.
  3. In the "Add elements" drawer, find Form under Specials (it is also listed under All), and drag it onto the page.

  1. With the Form element selected, click Select or edit form in the Form section of the right panel. The Form editor opens on the Forms overview, which lists the forms in your account (it is empty if you have none yet).
  2. Click New form.
  3. Click the tile above Embed an existing form.
  4. In Form name, enter a name for the form. The name is required.
  5. In the Type code dropdown, select Pardot.
  6. Paste the Pardot form URL into the large text box below the "How do I add Pardot code?" notice. A preview of the form appears on the left.
  7. Optional: under Extra options, enter a Redirect URL to send visitors to a page after they submit the form. The URL must start with https://. The redirect only works once Pardot tells Maglr about submissions (see Letting Maglr detect Pardot form submissions).

  1. Click Save form. You return to the Forms overview.
  2. Click Select form on your new form's row. The Form editor closes and the form appears on the page.


Maglr doesn't resize the Form element to fit a Pardot form. If part of your form is cut off or scrolls inside the box, drag the Form element's edges on the canvas until the whole form is visible.


Letting Maglr detect Pardot form submissions


Maglr can't see inside an embedded Pardot form, so Pardot has to tell Maglr when a visitor submits it. Set this up whenever you want Maglr to act on a Pardot form submission:


  • Content gate: the gate closes after the visitor submits the form, so they can read the rest of the publication.
  • Redirect URL: the visitor is sent to the Redirect URL set in the Maglr Form editor.
  • Submission tracking: the submission is recorded as an event in your project's statistics.


Without this setup, none of these happen after a Pardot form is submitted.


To let Maglr detect submissions, add this code to your Pardot form's thank-you code:

The script is the recommended option. If you can't add code in Pardot, set your Pardot form to redirect to this URL after submission instead: https://forms.maglr.com/confirm. Enter this URL in Pardot, not in the Maglr Redirect URL field.


To use the Pardot form as a content gate, turn on the gate in your project settings with the option "Overlay with form (Maglr, Hubspot, Marketo or Pardot)", and choose your Pardot form there. For the full gate setup, see Configure a content gate.


Frequently asked questions


Why doesn't my Pardot form redirect visitors after they submit it?


A Maglr Redirect URL on a Pardot form only works when Pardot tells Maglr that the form was submitted. Add <script type="text/javascript" src="https://forms.maglr.com/static/thankyou.js"></script> to your Pardot form's thank-you code, or set your Pardot form to redirect to https://forms.maglr.com/confirm after submission. Also check that the Redirect URL in the Maglr Form editor starts with https://.


Can I paste Pardot's iframe embed code into Maglr?


No. In the Maglr Form editor, the large text box below the "How do I add Pardot code?" notice takes the Pardot form's URL only, starting with https://. If you paste the iframe code, the form won't show.


Why is my Pardot form cut off on the page?


Maglr doesn't resize the Form element to fit a Pardot form. Select the Form element in the editor and drag its edges until the whole form is visible.


Why can't I click Select or edit form?


The Select or edit form button is disabled in the editor's mobile view, which shows "The form can only be edited on desktop." Switch the editor to desktop view to choose or edit the form.
